Is The Story In Your Soul Getting Sidelined By…Everything Else?
You’ve told yourself, “I’ll get to it one day…when the bills are paid, when the children are grown, when I have proof that I’m a good writer.”
But the yearning to tell your story, to share your message, to help humanity with your words, just won’t go away.
I feel you. I’ve been there too, and I’m here to help you uncover and deliver that message to the world.
You’ll Identify With One or More of These Groups…
Published author
You’ve already written a book or two. Now you want to write a different book, one that flows from the depths of your soul and the essence of your message. You feel a need to “go there” with your words.
Life graduate
You’ve endured a tragedy, or had a life-changing experience that forever shifted your perspective about life, love and legacy. Now you want to distill those lessons and wisdom, so that others can learn and grow from your message.
Writer for hire
You’ve been published in magazines, written songs, even developed compelling copy…but mostly for other people. Now you want to have your own book out there in the world, so that you can express yourself more meaningfully and enrich the lives of others.
I'm Maya Mathias and I've Guided Leaders and Writers Like You for More Than 20 Years.
Through these conversations, I’ve been awed by how rich and beautiful the human experience is. By what our stories have to teach us, and by how our spirit rises to meet, and transcend, the challenges that life presents us.
And yet, at some point in the conversation, other “stories” emerge. These are myths that keep us second-guessing our worth as a writer, our honesty as a narrator, and our value as a messenger.
The more we listen to these myths, the more we start to believe them. That rich story in our soul then stays locked in our mind, tucked in an ideas notebook, or buried in the back of our desk drawer. And the world misses out.
Over the years, I’ve heard one umbrella myth that rules them all – the myth of not being ready.
The Myth of “Not Being Ready”
As stewards of our message, we often let fear and self-doubt, in all its dimensions, convince us we aren’t ready to share it. Things like:
It’s not fully baked yet.
I’ll face public ridicule and ruin my hard-won reputation.
No one wants to hear my story.
The Real Reason This Matters To (And Scares) You
It can be terrifying to bare your soul on paper. And it doesn't always get easier with time. Your twentieth public "confession" may well feel as nerve-wrecking as the first.
But that's not why we write from our soul.
When we get to the heart of the matter, we tell our soulful stories because we are just like our campfire-burning, village-elder ancestors. We share from our soul to make sense of our world, to heal our inner wounds, and to pass our hard-won wisdom on to others who may benefit.
When we move past the paralyzing "I'm not ready" myth, we learn that the seeds of our soulful stories were planted in a land before time, and in the space between conscious thought.
The truth is, we are but one runner in the giant relay race of humanity, adding our dash of spice and experience to the mix. We matter because we are alive, and because the tapestry of civilization would ache for our one precious strand if we don't share our soulful stories.
What Your Soulful Writing Needs Most
If we're being honest with ourselves though, our action-filled days and achievement-oriented lives leave very little room for your soul to breathe, much less reveal its story to you.
How can you hear and capture that story if you're lurching from one emergency or task to another? (Answer: you can't.)
Our most impactful words come when we are in that elusive state of "flow" that peak performers talk about, and that all writers yearn to access.
But "flow" is much, much more than that. It's tapping into an invisible field of energy that connects us to a higher, more infinite intelligence than our own. It's where icons like Albert Einstein, or The Beatles, divined their greatest work. It's a practice of staying open to receive, of humbling ourselves, of recognizing that we do not, and cannot, create masterpieces that inspire the world without this boundless intelligence.
When I began (consciously) tuning in to this infinite wisdom, it took my soulful writing to another level. My words became more moving and impactful. And other people began to notice.
“
What a powerful article Maya. As always..such a thorough job. I think you have captured so well the truth that we are at our best as human beings when we grieve well. When we're making meaning out of loss and even better, art. Thank you for this.

I Created the Cowrite with Spirit Program To Share What I Know With You
In this 7-week program, I walk you through my exploration, tuning-in and writing practice.
This practice has helped my soulful stories land in national and international publications like the Huffington Post, The Economic Times of India, and the Straits Times of Singapore.
With time, faith and self-compassion, I know it can help you tell your soulful stories too, for the greater good.
The program experience
Orientation: Set your goal and intention for our 7 weeks together, and get acquainted with our program tools
Week 1: Deepen your connection to the story in your soul
Week 2: Discover where this story fits into the larger arc of your life (includes group writing session)
Week 3: Recognize the deeper currents that pull us toward some stories, and not others
Week 4: Understand how and why soulful writing is a healing instrument (includes group writing session)
Week 5: Learn how to write from a place of energy consciousness
Week 6: Clarify how and where your story serves humanity (includes group writing session)
Week 7: Polish your writing, and decide where and how far you will spread your newfound message
Your Soulful Writing Experience Doesn't Stop There
I know how easy it is to feel accomplished, after digging deep and staying in "flow" for a 7-week program, to then go back to the status quo, and to succumb to that myth of "not being ready."
It wouldn't honor the hard work of those 7 weeks, to then leave your message to the vagaries of fate. Or, worse, to the over-scheduled life that sidelined that message in the first place.
That's why the Cowrite With Spirit program includes a year-long seat in the Cowrite With Spirit (CWWS) Group, our sacred writing space within the Peaceful Pioneers community.
This means you receive a full year of support, through the CWWS Group, to further craft, test, express, refine and spread your soulful message.
In the CWWS Group, you'll have access to:
- Weekly group writing sessions - a no-pressure, come-as-you-are hour to work on a soulful writing task. Lean on the (virtual) group energy and leave enriched.
- Weekly intentions and check-ins - a reminder to record your progress in our goal management tool, and to celebrate your fellow writers' wins.
- End-of-month reviews - an opportunity to share your reflections, acknowledge the progress you've made, and ask the group for help (or good vibes).
- Quarterly strategy sessions - a place to tune in to what has shifted for you, and to then re-calibrate your soulful writing goals.
- A private virtual room for questions, challenges, or opportunities that need more timely care from the group and/or me.
In addition, your investment in Cowrite with Spirit includes one year of membership (costs $250 when purchased separately) in the larger Peaceful Pioneers community. New members and events will be added to the Peaceful Pioneers community over time, which serves the broader needs of cause-driven leaders like you.
Cowrite With Spirit Is Not For Everyone
You will love this program if:
You're looking for a safe, encouraging and non-judgmental space to practice expressing yourself as a leader with something important to say.
You have a burning desire to use your voice for the greater good, in the places and spaces where you (can) lead.
You sense or understand that the soulful writing process is both worldly and ethereal.
You're not just interested in the end product of the writing process - you also want to grow through or learn from the writing journey.
You invite mystery, wonder or a sense of awe into your life.
You're comfortable with words like "spirituality" and "transcendence," and you're open to self-reflection.
I ask you to commit to:
Being fully present to, and engaged with, the 7-week Cowrite with Spirit program. (Your soulful story deserves nothing less.)
Actively participating in, or staying on track with, the group writing sessions during the 7-week program.
Sharing the experience of your soulful writing journey with others, in the CWWS Group. (This is a shame- and guilt-free zone - we're all here to learn and grow together.)
Being consistent with your weekly intentions and check-ins in the CWWS Group. These go a long way to motivating yourself and others.
Offering insights about what works for you, as you develop and deliver your message to the world.
The Cowrite With Spirit Program, which includes
- a full year of support in the CWWS Group, plus
- a one-year membership in the larger Peaceful Pioneers community
is $1500 or 2 monthly payments of $800. (*)
(*) Because our collective momentum and success in this program rely on your deeply-held commitment and active participation, there are no refunds. That said, I'm happy to postpone your participation to the next cohort in the event of an unforeseen work or life emergency.
